Dry Fog Dust Suppression for Truck Loading Station

A dry fog dust suppression system was implemented for a truck loading station at a concrete mixing plant, effectively controlling dust dispersion during material unloading and vehicle movement.

Site Conditions and Dust Challenges

The truck loading station is used for unloading bulk materials directly into trucks through a discharge opening. Due to the height difference at the discharge point, the loading system cannot be fully enclosed, typically relying only on simple shielding structures.

During unloading, a large amount of dust is generated as materials fall into the truck. This dust spreads rapidly with airflow and vehicle movement. In addition, when trucks start moving after loading, wheel rotation disturbs settled dust on the ground, causing secondary dust emissions.

In addition, when trucks start moving after loading, the rotation of wheels disturbs settled dust on the ground, causing secondary dust emissions and further increasing environmental pollution.

Engineering Solution

To address these challenges, a dry fog dust suppression system was installed around the truck loading station.

Dry fog spray units were arranged around the discharge opening. During loading operations, the system generates a fine fog that forms a localized fog curtain, effectively enclosing the falling material stream.

The system captures dust at the source by surrounding the falling material stream with fine fog, preventing dust from escaping into the surrounding environment.

Working Principle

The system produces micron-level fog particles that are similar in size to dust particles. These droplets combine with airborne dust, increasing particle weight and causing rapid settlement.

Compared with traditional water spraying, the dry fog system uses minimal water and avoids excessive moisture addition, ensuring that material properties remain unaffected.

Dust is effectively controlled at the source, reducing both primary and secondary dust emissions.
